Between The Leaves
Louise is an accomplished artist who has been in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States. Receiving her BFA (San Francisco Art Institute) and MFA (Pratt) in sculpture, she decided to become an architect at mid-career.
Early in her career, she concentrated mostly on sculpture, particularly large-scale wood constructions. Architecture has always been an integral part, however, and drawing is at the center of all of her ideas. Louise feels that the drawing “runs a parallel course to the sculpture” and she “… develops ideas simultaneously in two and three dimensions”. Her most recent pieces are the complete marriage of sculpture, drawing and architecture. The pieces from Between the Leaves are three dimensional paper sculptures combined with found objects that integrate architectural drawings on vellum.
